Halved installation times thanks to ready-to-install energy supply systems

About the machining unit of the Venture series: The new series of machining units for stationary production covers the entire range of machining, including drilling, milling and sawing as well as grooving of workpieces in a clamp, and, thanks to the modular kit system, it can be added to in future. It is used in machining facilities for doors, office furniture and kitchens.

The challenge

There is little space available and, due to the complex movements involved, the cables are subjected to considerable stress. The feed speeds are 100 m/min and the travels are 4 to 6 m. In addition, protection against swarf and dust is needed.
Drilling is carried out at 24,000 rpm and fine dust is therefore produced that cannot be allowed to enter the chain joints, even though the machines operate in an environment with airborne chips. The chain must be capable of being installed quickly and must be maintenance-friendly.
 

Solution

The choice fell on energy tubes to supply the two axes of the stationary machines. One requirement of the American markets could thus be met. The swarf-repellent outer contour and the encapsulated stop-dogs ensure comprehensive protection of the cables and hoses. Space-saving installation of the tubes is possible due to the good ratio of the inner to outer dimensions. The 23 chainflex cables have an international design and are in line with UL requirements.
 
In the case of Weeke, different harnessed energy supply systems were planned for three types of machine. Reduced downtimes and cost savings were achieved due to the supply of ready-to-install energy chain systems.
